During an emotional meeting, the president of the Singapore Red Cross (SRC), Tan Kai Hoe, made the symbolic delivery of a second issue of humanitarian assistance worth 50,000 Singapore dollars (S$50,000) to the ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in Singapore, Jessica López, who received the contribution on behalf of the communities affected by the earthquake.
This contribution complements the first installment of $100,000 made in June, bringing Singapore's total financial support to $150,000. The funds are channeled directly through the Venezuelan Red Cross and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) to finance relief efforts, the provision of drinking water and medical care.
During the celebration of the Humanitarian Night, SRC authorities emphasized that resilience and strategic alliances with diplomatic missions are the fundamental engine for mitigating the impact of natural disasters.
The Venezuelan Embassy expressed its deep gratitude to the people and to the SRC for this significant gesture of brotherhood. He also reminded the Singaporean community that the organization's public fundraising campaign for those affected in Venezuela will remain officially open until September 30.
