The Sudanese army formally notified the takeover of the Fashqoun region, located in Blue Nile State. The recovery of this area was consolidated after a series of armed clashes against the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and the militias of the Sudan Liberation Movement-North (SLM-N).

Telesur highlighted on its website that government forces claimed to have successfully cleared the area by carrying out a decisive offensive. According to the military record, the deployment of security troops inflicted considerable casualties on enemy ranks and caused severe material losses to the logistical capabilities of the opposing forces.

In addition, the military authorities emphasized that these types of tactical operations directed against the remnants of the RSF are executed strategically. The primary objective of these actions in the territory is to permanently restore security and stability throughout the region.
