Suicide car bomb attack leaves at least 16 fatalities and 57 injured in Pakistan

At least 16 people lost their lives and 57 others were injured this Friday after a suicide car bomb attack directed at a police facility in the city of Kohat, located in northwestern Pakistan. The attack occurred simultaneously with the Friday prayer inside the mosque located inside the complex.

According to official reports, the vehicle hit the outer wall of the compound, while a group of armed militiamen opened fire in a coordinated manner during the detonation.

The Pakistani police confirmed in a statement that the seven attackers lost their lives on the spot, some due to the force of the explosion and others killed during the subsequent armed confrontation with security forces.

This incident is part of a context of growing tension in the border areas of Pakistan, where there has been a significant increase in armed actions by insurgent groups in recent months.
