Telephone dialogue: Presidents Putin and Trump discuss ending the conflict in Ukraine and shared interests

The President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, and the US president, Donald Trump, held a telephone conversation this Tuesday focused on the search for diplomatic solutions to the conflict in Ukraine and the identification of areas of mutual interest for international stability.

According to the Kremlin's international policy advisor, Yuri Ushakov, the dialogue lasted an hour and made it possible to evaluate the progress achieved by emissaries from both nations, addressing sustainable ways to de-escalate the military confrontation in the region.

During the exchange, the Russian representation emphasized the need to overcome the structural causes of the crisis, stressing that “first of all, we must guarantee Russia's long-term security, so it is important to eliminate the root causes of the conflict”, referring directly to the expansive brake of the North Atlantic Organization (NATO).

For its part, the US administration defended the urgency of accelerating bilateral negotiations, while both sides agreed on the advisability of maintaining a direct and confidential communication channel to explore mutually beneficial cooperation opportunities.

Telephone contact represents a significant step in the current complex geopolitical scenario, raising expectations about the reconfiguration of the global security architecture through sovereign and pragmatic negotiation mechanisms.
