The number of deaths due to earthquakes in Colombia increases to 234

Colombian authorities confirmed that the death toll rose to 234 after the earthquake shook several regions of western that country.

In Valle del Cauca, the governorates recorded 35 deaths, while Cali counted 95 victims, making it one of the urban centers most affected by the earthquake, according to information from international media.

The regional government secretary reported 90 deaths in Risaralda, which shows structural damage in central areas of the country.

Chocó was identified as the epicenter, where the governor confirmed 14 deaths after the earthquake.

The Caldas administration reported 6 deaths linked to the collapse of public and private buildings.

The affected departments face damage to hospitals, service networks, mass transport and air terminals, while Pereira, Cali, Quibdó, Manizales and Armenia remain on red alert due to the collapse of 165 urban structures.

Emergency teams are maintaining search and technical evaluation operations in urban and rural areas affected by the disaster.

Regional hospitals operate to the limit to treat the injured transferred from the most impacted territories.
