The number of deaths from the 7.4 magnitude earthquake in Colombia has risen to 181

The National Unit for Disaster Risk Management (UNGRD) reported 181 people dead and 20,017 injured as a result of the earthquake in San José del Palmar, according to the preliminary balance sheet due to August 11.

The search work allowed 320 citizens to be rescued alive, while health services treated 2,774 injured and there are 11,132 affected families in 388 municipalities.

As for infrastructure, the inventory of material damage amounts to 20,557 damaged homes, 3,715 destroyed and 64 buildings collapsed by the earthquake.

The public service network also suffered visible fractures: 111 health centers were out of operation, 1,087 schools are affected and 38 aqueducts have ruptures that compromise the water supply.

In addition, land and air connectivity was interrupted in 92 road corridors and two air terminals, making it difficult to deploy humanitarian aid in the worst-hit areas.
