Wesley Clark , a former commander of North Atlantic Organization (NATO) forces in Europe, said he met with a senior military officer in Washington in November 2001, who told him that the George Bush administration planned to attack Iraq first before taking action against Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Iran, Somalia and Sudan.
The general's accusations appear in a new book, The Clark Critique, whose excerpts appear in the latest edition of the American magazine Newsweek.
“There was no evidence of Iraqi sponsorship of 9/11,” said the former American commander.
For his part, the director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) at the time, Michael Richard Pompeo, laughingly shamelessly said during the interview at the University of Texas: “I was the director of the CIA. We lie, cheat and steal. We even had training courses.”
The battleship Maine
On February 15, 1898, a powerful explosion destroyed the American battleship Maine, which was anchored in Havana Bay.
Immediately after the catastrophe occurred, the American tabloid press intensified its anti-Spanish campaign, holding the authorities in Madrid and Havana responsible for the incident . Simultaneously, the most aggressive political circles intensified their demands and pressures on the executive to decide to intervene militarily in Cuba.
The war in Vietnam is considered to be the most unjustified conflict of the last century. As well as in order to overthrow the government of Saddam Hussein, the United States led a coalition that ended up occupying the country until 2011.
The alleged possession of weapons of mass destruction that endangered the international community and the alleged funding of the terrorist group Al-Qaeda by Hussein was the speech under which this intervention was justified.
On the other hand, the American invasion of Tripoli did not take place. However, the United States did participate in the military intervention in Libya in 2011, which included air strikes.
The war was initiated by Israel against the Islamic Republic of Iran unilaterally on June 13, after launching a bombing of Iranian territory based on unverified accusations about Iran's alleged possession of a nuclear bomb, an argument that has even been denied by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
