Venezuela accompanies the commemoration of the CCXVI Anniversary of the Beginning of Mexico's Feast of Independence

The First Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Oliver Blanco, and the Deputy Minister for Latin America, Mauricio Rodríguez, accompanied the Mexican ambassador accredited to Venezuela, Leopoldo De Gyves, on Monday to commemorate the CCXVI Anniversary of the Beginning of the Feast of Independence of the Aztec nation.

The protocol ceremony was held in the National Pantheon, where a floral offering was placed before the sarcophagus that holds the mortal remains of the Liberator Simon Bolivar, and began with the intonation of the national anthems of both countries.

The event was attended by representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Caracas and included the signing of the guestbook to the mausoleum.

Diplomatic relations between Venezuela and Mexico were established in 1831 and are based on friendship, mutual respect and solidarity, the latter recently demonstrated by the sending of humanitarian aid after the double earthquake that hit the South American nation on June 24.

Last July, the Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Félix Plasencia González, held a telephone conversation with the Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the United Mexican States, Roberto Velasco, in which they emphasized the intention to deepen bilateral rapprochement and cooperation in all areas.
