Venezuela and Nicaragua discuss bilateral agenda during meeting in Colombia

The Deputy Minister for Latin America of the Ministry of Popular Power for Foreign Affairs, Mauricio Rodríguez, met this Friday, in Bogotá, with the Deputy Minister for Foreign Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nicaragua, Olimpia Raquel Ochoa Espinales, and they addressed issues on the binational and regional agenda.

The meeting took place in the context of the X Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) and the CELAC-Africa High Level Forum, which takes place in this capital city of the Republic of Colombia.

Caracas and Managua maintain a historic relationship of brotherhood and cooperation in areas of common interest, shielded by similar views on regional geopolitics and the defense of sovereignty against foreign pretensions, in addition to sharing membership in integration mechanisms such as CELAC and the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA).

Ochoa Espinales has a degree in Diplomacy and Political Science. From 2021 to 2025, she served as First Secretary of the Permanent Mission of Nicaragua to the United Nations, in New York. He has held his current position since October 2025.

On March 5, the Venezuelan Foreign Minister, Yván Gil, received the Style Copies of the new Nicaraguan ambassador appointed to Caracas, Isidro Antonio Rivera Guadamuz, stressing that this appointment “will open up new opportunities for cooperation, alliance and dialogue between our peoples.”
