Venezuela and the United Kingdom review progress on the bilateral agenda in New York

At the beginning of the bilateral meetings in New York, within the framework of the 81st session of the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN), the Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Félix Plasencia González, met this Monday with the Undersecretary of State of the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Chris Elmore.

During the conversation, the parties reviewed progress in strengthening diplomatic relations and other issues on the common agenda.

Foreign Minister Plasencia was accompanied by the first vice-minister, Oliver Blanco; the permanent representative of Venezuela to the UN, Ambassador Coromoto Godoy, and the director general for Europe of the Foreign Ministry, Nelson Totesaut.

Last week, President Delcy Rodríguez received, in Caracas, the chargé d'affaires of the United Kingdom, Colin Dick, as part of the agenda for the full re-establishment of diplomatic relations between the two nations, at a meeting that formalizes the joint intention to raise diplomatic representation in Caracas and London to the level of ambassadors, marking a new stage in the binational historical relationship.
