The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela joined this Tuesday in the commemoration of the International Day of Solidarity with the Struggling People of South Africa, a date to reflect on the importance of resistance and unity in the search for justice and equality.
Through his Telegram channel, Foreign Minister Yván Gil pointed out that this June 16, the Bolivarian People and Government pay “homage to those who courageously faced the apartheid regime, one of the darkest chapters in human history, whose consequences are still being replicated with force in various parts of the world.”
He noted that the commemoration of this day “recalls that all the struggles of peoples have, at some point, been ignored and criminalized, with leaders like Nelson Mandela unjustly imprisoned. However, at the end of the day, the determination of peoples and the defense of their rights will always prevail,” Gil said.
