The Venezuelan national under-20 soccer team defeated its similar under-23 in Mexico, from penalty shootouts where they won 3 x 2 and won the gold medal at the 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games held in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

The victory, which represents the third victory for the Llaneros in their historic partition in the Central American and Caribbean Games, was achieved in a match, where Venezuela led the initiative on the scoreboard but Mexico was able to match the match up to twice.

At the end of regulation time and overtime, they went to penalties where goalkeeper Diego Ochoa stopped three shots that gave the South Americans the title against the North Americans.

It is the third gold medal in Venezuelan history, after those won in 1982 and 1998.
