Venezuela participated as an international observer in parliamentary elections in Kazakhstan

The embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in Astana participated this Sunday, August 23, as an international observer in the holding of the first parliamentary elections for the new unicameral Kurultai (Parliament) of Kazakhstan.
Venezuelan Ambassador Rosalba Lo Bue Antico observed the suffrage process at electoral college number 520, located in the Independence Palace, where the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, exercised his right to vote.
This occasion allowed the Venezuelan diplomatic mission to share our country's successful electoral experiences with colleagues from the Central Asian region, recognizing the civic development of election day. According to the electoral authorities, more than 9 million Kazakhs out of the 12.6 million eligible to vote participated in the elections.
The new Kazakh legislature, whose creation was approved in a constitutional referendum in March of this year, will have 145 deputies, elected for a five-year term.
According to information provided by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, at a press conference after exercising his vote, the appointment of the Vice President of Kazakhstan will be announced next week or within 10 days.
