Venezuela shines in Apnea in Serbia with gold and world record

The Venezuelan Underwater Activities delegation successfully began its participation in the World Freediving Pool Championship, a meeting that took place at the Futog Sport Center in Novi Sad, in Serbia.

During the opening day, Venezuelan athletes won a gold medal with a world record and two silver medals with continental brands, the Ministry of Popular Power for Sports reported on its website.

The stellar performance of the day went to the capital's Cristopher Chacón, who won the gold medal in the junior men's category (15-17 years old) in the 2×50 meter freediving event. In a time of 36.35 seconds, a time that achieved a new world record.

For her part, Mattia Guerrazzi won the silver medal with a time of 38.58 seconds, while the experienced Samanta Díaz won the silver medal in the 2×50 meter freediving event with a Pan-American record of 38.35.

Ashley Colmenares climbed to the second rung of the podium with a new continental record of 42,012 seconds, in a competition led by the Italian Carolina Spotti.

In addition, the Venezuelan athletes will continue their participation in the world competition in the 4×50 speed event.
