The Venezuelan women's soccer team took an important step towards the Brazil 2027 World Cup by drawing a goal with Uruguay this Tuesday at the Centenario stadium in Montevideo, corresponding to the last round of the Conmebol Women's Nations League, where the Vinotinto team secured the repechage match.

Although it generated the most chances of danger in the first half, the team was unable to score and the first half ended goalless.

In extra time, La Vinotinto maintained the offensive, but the score was opened by the captain of La Celeste, Pamela González, with a header goal in the 53rd minute. Venezuela responded in the 58th minute with a right hand from Deyna Castellanos that put equality on the scoreboard.

Venezuela continued with high pressure in search of the winning goal, but the sky arc closed, partly because of the good behavior of the rival goalkeeper and the lack of definition in the attack.

After the end of the match, goal scorer Castellanos said she was “very proud of the team, of the coaching staff, we fought to the end and I think we deserve it (...) we are making history in our country, no major soccer team has ever managed to reach a repechage for a world cup”.
