Venezuelan Ambassador Carlos Feo Acevedo presented Credentials to Seychelles

The designated ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Carlos Feo Acevedo, presented his Credential Letters to the President of the Republic of Seychelles, Patrick Herminie, during an official meeting held at the headquarters of the State House in the capital of the African country.

The ceremony was attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora of Seychelles, Barry Faure, reaffirming the mutual commitment to consolidate the historic friendship between the two nations, whose diplomatic ties were formally established on April 15, 1991.

During the formal hearing, the Venezuelan diplomat conveyed the fraternal greetings of the Venezuelan Government and People, highlighting the cultural, historical and environmental similarities that unite both countries, as well as the convergence in their development priorities. The diplomat stressed the importance of deepening the bilateral cooperation agenda.

Both sides addressed issues of shared interest and explored new opportunities for exchange in strategic areas such as education, medicine, culture and sports, aimed at promoting direct rapprochement between the two peoples.

They also agreed on the early signing of a visa waiver agreement for official passports this year, a mechanism that will facilitate institutional mobility and the dynamism of diplomatic relations.

At the multilateral level, Ambassador Feo Acevedo and the Seychellois president emphasized the importance of maintaining strategic coordination within the Non-Aligned Movement (MNOAL).

The Venezuelan representative reaffirmed his nation's strong support for initiatives that defend the causes and priorities of developing countries, including the Multidimensional Vulnerability Index (IVM) promoted by Seychelles in favor of Small Island Developing States (SIDS).

As part of the institutional agenda, the diplomat also held a courtesy meeting with the vice-president of Seychelles, Sebastien Pillay, at which cooperation projects were evaluated in the areas of language preservation, disaster risk management, climate change mitigation, agriculture and energy.

Ambassador Carlos Feo Acevedo, who will serve concurrently from Pretoria, South Africa, becomes the third Venezuelan ambassador accredited to the Republic of Seychelles, consolidating the Bolivarian presence and diplomacy of peace on the African continent.
