Venezuelan Judo delegation wins eight medals at the Argentine Open

The national judo delegation left the Venezuelan tricolor high at the Pan American Open in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where it was crowned the winner after winning eight of the most outstanding medals in the competition between gold, silver and bronze.

The competition served as preparation for their participation in the next Santo Domingo 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games, which will take place from July 24 to August 8.

In the women's national team, the monarch of the Panamanian Senior Individual Championship 2026, Karen León, won the gold medal in the -78 kg division; while the Olympian Anriquelis Barrios won the silver medal in the final combat of the 63 kg category.

For her part, the bronze medals went to the Bolivarian champion of Lima (Peru 2025), Leomaris Ruiz, in the -52 kg category; Audreys Pacheco, in the -57 kg division; Eliana Aguilar, in the -70 kg; and Zunilda Chávez, in the -78 kg.

The men's branch also contributed to the Venezuelan delegation. Samuel Corzo won the silver medal in the -100 kg category, while Luis Amezquita won the bronze medal in the +100 kg category.
