Without political distinction! PSUV invites you to participate in the National Popular Consultation on October 18

The general secretary of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello Rondón, stressed that the National Popular Consultation of October 18 is open to all citizens, regardless of their political position.

He pointed out that the process seeks to strengthen community participation and that the party accompanies the day throughout the national territory. “We invite them to join. This country belongs to all Venezuelans, and we don't have any kind of distinction,” he said.

Cabello explained that those who don't do politics tend to misinterpret community activities. He indicated that community sanccochos are not improvised events or transferred from other sectors, but rather initiatives organized by the community itself. “These sancochos are in the field; those who organize them are the people there, the people there are those who give them the season. And what you observe is that people and strangers come, because when the party makes such invitations it's not just for the PSUV,” he said.

He added that the territorial presence of the party makes it possible to accompany these activities without protagonists.

Cabello pointed out that the media war against Venezuela has been transferred to social networks, where rumors spread more quickly. He recalled that before it was necessary to go to newspaper archives to verify information, while today “you plug in all the networks and everything comes out with a little more effort; there is no secret”.

In this regard, he questioned the statements of sectors that today criticize the agreement signed between the Government of Venezuela and the Government of the United States, despite the fact that, as he indicated, that was his proposal months ago. “Look on social networks for what they said ten months ago (...) Now that a 25-year agreement has been signed, with an investment of more than 100 billion dollars, it doesn't seem right to them,” he said.

He compared the position of these sectors with the popular metaphor of “the flea and the louse”, stating that they change their narrative depending on the circumstances. “It's hard to understand them, very difficult. They will have their narrative and we will continue to move forward,” he said.

Cabello recalled that Venezuela has the world's main oil reserves, but it is ranked 20th in exports due to the fall in production. He indicated that Commander Hugo Chávez instructed to increase production to 6 million barrels, but that subsequent decisions and sanctions affected that objective.

“How do you get six million barrels of oil? With investment (...) then they came and asked for sanctions and blockades. Now that an agreement has been reached, the opposition doesn't like it,” he said.

He stressed that the signed agreement will allow investment to be developed over the next 25 years, which will generate direct and indirect benefits for the country. “Venezuela today has an agreement that is beginning to be developed. Investors will come and our country will begin to receive the benefits,” he said.
