Women's sword team seized the Gold Medal at the Santa Fe 2026 South American Games

The Venezuelan women's sword team became champion after beating Chil's representation with a score of 45 to 32 in the spectacular final of the XIII Santa Fe 2026 South American Games, played at the Salvador Bonilla Stadium.

The national quartet, made up of Lizze Asis, Eliana Lugo, Clarismar Farias and Betyumil Posada, previously beat Argentina in the semifinals with a tight 45-41, where they showed courage and determination.

In the decisive match for gold against the Chileans, the national squad imposed conditions from the first minute with Farias, who opened the round giving Venezuela the first 5-4 lead against Analía Fernández.

This was the starting point for Asis and Lugo to maintain a constant pace against Marianne Frindt and Paula Vásquez in the intermediate relays.

Later, Lugo and Farias managed to take off the scoreboard categorically until they achieved advantages of more than ten touches.

Finally, Asis was in charge of sealing the victory in the ninth and final relief against Fernández, bringing down the curtain on the final 45-32 match that sparked the Venezuelan celebration on the podium.

In the previous edition of the Asunción 2022 South American Games, Lugo and Asis formed the sword team together with María Gabriela Martínez and Danizelys Sanabria and placed fifth in the overall team classification after giving up to Argentina, so this time they far surpassed that performance by climbing to the top of the podium.
