Xi Jinping defends the creation of an independent Palestinian state to King Abdullah II of Jordan

The President of the People's Republic of China, Xi Jinping, defended this Monday before King Abdullah II of Jordan the urgent need to move towards the creation of an independent Palestinian state and resume peace negotiations, during an official meeting held in Beijing. The meeting between the two leaders addressed the deterioration of the geopolitical situation in the Middle East and the search for diplomatic consensus.

During the meeting, the Chinese president argued that the two-state solution represents the only realistic and sustainable way to resolve the conflict permanently. In that context, Xi emphasized that any framework agreement must be structured on the basis of the borders delimited in 1967, considering East Jerusalem as the sovereign capital of the Palestinian territory.

For his part, King Abdullah II highlighted the constructive role played by the Chinese Government in mediating and balancing regional issues. The Jordanian monarch confirmed his nation's full willingness to strengthen political coordination with Beijing, in order to promote joint initiatives that promote stability and the cessation of tensions in the Middle East.

The bilateral meeting concluded with the commitment of both delegations to keep open consultation channels on the Israeli-Palestinian crisis, according to information reported by Telesur. The parties agreed on the need to mobilize the international community to accelerate the re-establishment of dialogue and ensure the protection of the civilian population.
