Minister Gómez: Tourism in Venezuela grew by 72% in the first half of 2025

The Minister of Popular Power for Tourism, Leticia Gómez, reported that, during the close of June 2025, tourism in Venezuela grew by 72% compared to the same period in 2024.

“Venezuela is in the process of economic diversification, incorporating tourism into the priority sectors for economic and social growth,” he said, after highlighting that tourism is part of the seven strategic lines developed by the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, to achieve economic transformation, Venezuelan Television reports.

He also indicated that “at the international level, the country has established bilateral agreements with different nations and has designed a specific program of tourism collaboration where training, training and exchange of experiences constitute fundamental components.”

He said that in 2024, tourism impacted the world economy with 11.1 trillion American dollars, positioning itself as the sector that generates the most jobs globally with more than 300 million jobs.

In addition, he reaffirmed that tourism in Venezuela is part of economic transformation along with social transformation, in which they work together with universities and schools to develop professional and community training mechanisms in tourism.
