The Venezuelan Code of Ethics for Journalists requires that the truth be upheld as an indispensable rule, to defend peace and to denounce any manipulation or interest that distorts facts and prevents timely and truthful information from being guaranteed.

Therefore, we cannot ignore the occurrence of the CNP-Caracas of issuing a statement against the host of the Con El Mazo Dando program , Diosdado Cabello Rondón, who in his opinion space denounced the actions of journalists who, at a press conference held by President Delcy Rodríguez, demonstrated their position against the Bolivarian Revolution and left discovered mercenary interests far removed from the truth and very contrary to journalistic ethics.

Fortunately, the President's firmness, the precision in her answers and the defense of the truth crushed the pretensions of those who came more than to know what happened to sow division and stimulate outbreaks of violence.

We are used to this by the media scoundrel, the transnational information companies and the keyboard snipers who stimulate a campaign against the Venezuelan people, against the Bolivarian Government and against the peace and tranquility to which those of us who live, work and fight here have a right. They are miserable!

In addition to this mercenary campaign, there is the National College of Journalists, Caracas Sectional, an organization that I saw founded when I was just a student at the UCV, which gave way to the Venezuelan Association of Journalists, of which I was a member of as a cooperating member and which years later I had the honor of joining several boards of directors of the different union bodies and especially at the head of the General Secretariat of CNP-Caracas.

But no one, absolutely no one, can say that I put the political position above my union activities. Never! We always acted against defamatory campaigns, we defended the truth, we opposed manipulations, deviations and we defended peace and respect for the right of our people to receive truthful and timely information, an old union aspiration that was embodied in articles 57 and 58 of the Bolivarian Constitution of Venezuela and which I had the privilege of presenting and defending as Constituent Assembly 1999.

That is why today I want to join the voices that reject campaigns against my country, against the National Government, against President Delcy Rodríguez, campaigns that seek to undermine peace. I have witnessed, just moments after the double earthquake of June 24, the work carried out, the attention and the efforts of national, regional and local authorities to provide assistance and protection to the victims. That is why I repudiate the manipulation, misrepresentation and lies that sewage, mercenary journalism has tried to impose, thank God without succeeding. I am the 1500 member of the National Association of Journalists, I am enrolled in the Caracas Section, but that directive that today stands on the side of lies does not represent me, so I clarify that in my name, it does not speak.
