Venezuela and Guatemala address the need to re-establish consular relations

The Minister of Popular Power for Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Félix Plasencia, held a meeting this Thursday, September 24, with his counterpart from the Republic of Guatemala, Carlos Ramiro Martínez, in which they discussed issues of bilateral relations.

On his social networks, Plasencia reported that, during the conversation, he praised the historic relationship of friendship and cooperation between its peoples, as well as the need to continue promoting the road map for the re-establishment of consular relations between the two countries.

“Venezuela reaffirms its willingness to maintain friendly and good-neighbourly relations with all countries in the region,” he said.

After the 7.4 magnitude earthquake that hit Mexico and Guatemala on July 19, Minister Plasencia transmitted his words of support and solidarity on social networks.

Carlos Ramiro Martínez, a graduate in International Relations specializing in development, citizen security and Central American integration, took office as foreign minister of Guatemala in January 2024, after having served as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs four times, ambassador to Argentina and permanent representative to UN Geneva.
