From the Miraflores Palace, in Caracas, the Eternal Commander, Hugo Chávez, emphasized that socialism must be implemented as a supreme objective, satisfying the needs of the collective, of the people, of the people, of the people, of society.

“One of the great historic objectives of our revolution is to turn Venezuela into a powerful country and consolidate national independence,” Chávez said on June 15, 2012.

He assured that after so many economic battles for the country's comprehensive development, progress has been made through productive economic development, beyond the oil rental model and the predatory capitalist model.

“For many years they deceived us, the Creole bourgeoisie, the transnational corporations of the empire, to take possession of our natural resources and leave us there in poverty, in misery,” he recalled.

He asserted that millions of people are living in misery, poverty, as a result of predatory capitalism.

In that sense, he “thanked God that we are letting go of that model and building our model”.

“National independence is under way, we must defend it, amplify it, enlarge it and consolidate it, then continue building the socialist, humanist, democratic economic model, then turn Venezuela into a power country within the great power of Latin America and the Caribbean,” he added.

He insisted that we must continue to contribute to the formation of a pluricentric and multipolar world and to save humanity, human life, planet Earth.
