Chávez Gigante: Oil has been the root cause of the aggressions against Venezuela

The Eternal Commander Hugo Chávez assured that oil has been the root cause of the permanent aggressions against Venezuela.

From Easter Valley, Guárico state, on May 14, 2008, Chávez asserted that it is not because of ideology “neither because they say that we are a threat to the world nor because we supposedly support drug trafficking and terrorism, it's because of oil.”

In that sense, he argued that all governments that wanted to manage oil in a sovereign manner in Venezuela were overthrown.

“Even a president was assassinated, Colonel Carlos Delgado Chalbaud, who had grown up in Europe, an engineer, a military man, who had very progressive ideas,” he added.

“They took all the oil they wanted from Venezuela, and they left us as a legacy for the 21st century the greatest and most appalling misery,” he said.
