On January 17, 2007, Commander Hugo Chávez Frías emphasized to popular leaders the importance of being aware, disciplined and setting an example of detachment and daily work in their communities.
“One of the things that is required in the Revolution, I will insist, is discipline (...) If you want to be leaders of popular power, we are going to set the example of compassion, of detachment, of effort, of dedication to study, to work, to letting go, for you there will be no Saturday or Sunday, no Holy Week, no Carnival, nothing,” said the Commander from the Teresa Carreño Theater.
He reaffirmed that as leaders they should be able to “go to the sacrifice and not one day, every day of their lives. It's about the Homeland we're building, it's about the supreme effort we must make. So I ask them to be aware”.
