On February 27, 2009, from El Calvario, Caracas, he urged to protect the unity of the People, that of the Armed Forces and that which exists between them.

“Let's take care of it and strengthen it. Let's take care of our conscience. Let's commit ourselves much more, much more to the battle (...) To give the People what the People are,” he said and warned that “corruption, inefficiency, bureaucratism, insecurity in the streets, crime, drug trafficking; drug use, alcoholism, lack of culture and conscience” are the threats against the ones that need to be fought.

In that sense, he invited us to defeat them, “and to truly build a new and good society, a socialist society. But that has to be done today, that's not for tomorrow. It's today!”
