More than 300 indigenous Waraos were treated during an integrated health day in the state of Sucre

The Ministry of Popular Power for Health (MinSalud) provided free medical care to some 313 people from the Warao indigenous people in Sucre state, in a comprehensive health deployment that benefited the inhabitants of the community of Guariquén and neighboring areas of the Benítez municipality. To meet this commitment, the team of specialists completed a six-hour land journey to ensure the well-being of vulnerable families.

During the healthcare day, health professionals accumulated a total of 1,196 medical services, which allowed families in the region to access General Medicine, Pediatrics and Ophthalmology clinics, as well as imaging studies and drug delivery at no cost. In the same way, the technical staff gave preventive workshops and offered orientation sessions in family planning for the local population.

This multisectoral operation is part of public policies aimed at guaranteeing the right to health in hard-to-reach territories; and with these actions, the Bolivarian Government consolidates the National Public Health System and strengthens the comprehensive protection of the country's native communities.
