The Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ), through resolution No. 2026-0013, announced the elimination of the special jurisdiction of two courts based in Caracas, which were responsible for handling cases of adolescents from anywhere in the country.

In a statement, they reported that, from now on, cases will be heard by the courts of control of the Criminal System for the Responsibility of Adolescents of each judicial circuit, closer to young people and their families.

“Responding to President Delcy Rodríguez's call for a profound reform of the Justice System, the Supreme Court of Justice took a new step towards more timely justice with all its guarantees for adolescents, whose cases that were previously in the hands of special courts, will now be tried by their natural judges, in the courts of their own region,” the text states.

They also indicated that the Supreme Court “works to ensure that each case receives the appropriate legal qualification and that adolescents can exercise an appropriate defense before their proper judge.”

With this decision, the Supreme Court confirms its commitment to justice accessible to all citizens.
