Venezuela knocks out Peru 16-1 in softball at Santa Fe 2026

The Venezuelan men's softball team began its participation in the XIII South American Games Santa Fe 2026 with a 16-run knockout of Peru in just three innings, on the opening day of the tournament, the Ministry of Sports reported.

The Venezuelan team took the lead in the first episode with two scores, but the offense overflowed in the top of the second inning when they produced a nine-run cluster that set the score 11-0 and set the course for the match. In the third episode, the ninth Venezuelan added five more lines, while Peru could only count on a solo run in the second inning, and the regulatory knockout was declared.

Luis Colombo Pérez was credited with the victory from the hill after controlling the rival offensive, while the defeat fell to Peruvian starter Kevin Areche Saavedra.

On the offensive side, Yanluis Núñez went 2-2 with three runs scored, Ángel Adames hit 3-2 with two RBIs and Sebastián Silvera led 2-2 with a pair of scores. They also added to the scoreboard Cleveland Santeliz with two hits in two rounds, Engelbert Herrera and Alvi Paredes, who hit a key hit and hit the record twice.

The Venezuelan national team will face Bolivia this Tuesday, at 3:30 in the afternoon, in search of another victory by way of a knockout.
