12 commissions installed for the improvement of university education

A total of 12 working commissions for the transformation of university education were installed in Caracas to address issues such as infrastructure, regulatory updating and undergraduate and postgraduate academic evaluation, the Venezuelan News Agency (AVN) reported, citing a press release from the Ministry of University Education.

In addition, the regulation of technology-mediated multimodal studies and the expediting of revalidations, equivalencies and certification of degrees are included.

Other fronts that these commissions will address are the review of foundations, tariffs and own revenues, with a view to establishing financial alternatives that are not burdensome for students; the design of the accreditation system; and the auditing and sinceration of payroll, as well as the teaching burden for budgetary transparency.

The rest of the panels will be responsible for the Free Chair for Peace and Democratic Coexistence, the Free Chair for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, the reactivation of the centers of the National Council of Universities (CNU) and the National Management System for data interoperability, inclusion and student well-being.

Minister Ana María Sanjuán pointed out that the objective of this work is to build “a model of university education for the next 50 years”, based on a broad discussion that allows a consensus on a bill to be presented to the National Assembly (AN).

Deputy Minister Socorro Hernández specified that the commissions will operate in five chronological phases, lasting between one week and six months, depending on their complexity, under a unified secretariat that will manage a single record of information.
