On February 20, 2010, Commander Hugo Chávez enacted the Organic Law of the Federal Governing Council.

“A new law that will be a powerful instrument for these 20 years to come, for the construction of the socialist homeland, for the territorial reorganization of the country, for shaping a new national geopolitics, a new geometry of Popular Power, of political power, of economic power, of social power, of military power. I am referring to the Organic Law of the Federal Council of Government, an instrument for the revolutionary government that we will install in a few weeks so that it begins to function as a new instance of Popular Power, as a new instance of Revolutionary Power,” said Commander Chávez.

In addition, the Commander changed the name of Calvario Park to Generalissimo Ezequiel Zamora, in honor of this Venezuelan hero.

Zamora lives on the streets, in the fields, in this valley of Caracas. Zamora today lives much more than ever before. Zamora is present with us these days, in these years, and especially now when we are beginning the commemorations of the Bicentennial of Independence, the Bicentennial of the beginning of Independence that we are still fighting, that we are still tilling, that we are still building,” he said.
