2008: Commander Hugo Chávez installed the Founding Congress of the PSUV

On January 12, 2008, the Leader of the Bolivarian Revolution, Hugo Chávez, installed the Founding Congress of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV).

“New voices, new faces, it's the people who rule here. I invite you, I invite you to build a unitary political instrument: the United Socialist Party of Venezuela, I like that name. I swear before the People that I will not give rest to my arm, nor rest to my soul until I fully form the Socialist Founding Congress, and thus giving birth to the great Socialist Party. I swear,” said Commander Chávez from the San Carlos Barracks in Caracas .

The Supreme Commander was proclaimed president of the party by Congress on March 14, 2008, and was later sworn in to the National Directorate at the Municipal Theater.

The PSUV is an example of organization, struggle, battle and victory in the country's democratic history. Being the largest political tent in Latin America.
