205 years ago, the Congress of Angostura ratified Simon Bolivar as Liberator

On January 6, 1820, during the Congress of Angostura, the general of the patriotic armies, Simon Bolivar, was ratified as Liberator and Father of the Fatherland of the territories of Venezuela and New Granada that would later form Gran Colombia.
“General Bolívar is decorated with the title of Liberator that he will use in all offices and acts of the government, putting it before that of President, and he will keep it as a property of glory in any other destination and in the very retirement of public business,” refers to part of the decree issued by the aforementioned Congress, which defines the hero of American independence as “Liberator of Colombia, Father of the Fatherland, Terror of Despotism”.
With this declaration, Father Liberator is ratified of his inauguration, which he would honor throughout his short life, where with perseverance, audacity and determination he created the independence of five nations.
