26 years ago the People said yes to the National Constituent Assembly

On July 25, 1999, an important event occurred in the history of Venezuela, the people went to the polls to decide whether or not they wanted to convene a National Constituent Assembly (ANC) that would transform the State and build a legal system that would allow the effective functioning of a social and participatory democracy
The Venezuelan people approved the National Constituent Assembly, some think that this is the true birth of the Bolivarian Revolution, led by the Eternal Commander Hugo Chávez, the new Constitution that included the proposals and needs of the population replaced the Magna Carta of 1961.
The consultative referendum that took place on April 25, 1999, was to convene together with the people a National Constituent Assembly that allowed the formation of the Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, accelerated the processes for the establishment of a government with high levels of popular participation.
On the basis of Article 181 of the Organic Law on Suffrage and Political Participation, on April 25, 1999, the National Consultative Referendum was held in the country to convene a National Constituent Assembly.
According to the historical record of the National Electoral Council (CNE), Yes won the victory with 3,360,666 votes (87.75%), while only 300,233 people voted against the call (7.26%).
After the approval and enactment of the Bolivarian Constitution of 1999, policies began to be implemented that made it possible to serve the Venezuelan people in a quick and timely manner.
