38 people killed by rains in southern China

More than 55,300 people have been affected by floods in this sector of the Asian country.

This Friday, heavy rains caused the death of 38 people and the disappearance of two others in the district of Pingyuan, in the province of Guangdong, in southern China, according to local media information.

“This is the worst flood the village has ever seen,” said Qiu Zhimiao, 42, from Daxin village in Pingyuan.

Cumulative rainfall in Pingyuan has reached 1,221.6 millimeters since its flood season began on April 4, almost double the normal level for this period in years.

According to the Xinhua website, more than 55,300 people have been affected by floods in this sector of the Asian country.
