48 years of the Caracas Metro: Men and women who guarantee transportation with love for the people

On August 8, 1977, the Compañía Anónima Metro de Caracas was founded, an underground road infrastructure that contributes to the movement of people to reach their destination more safely, thanks to men and women who work every day with dedication and dedication to guarantee mass transportation service to the capital's town.

The first stage of Line 1 of the Caracas Metro, which runs through the stations between Propatria and Chacaíto, began operations on January 2, 1983. On October 4, 1987, the first stage of Line 2, Las Adjuntas- Zoological-La Paz, began operating. In the following years, the Metro continued its expansion until Line 1 was completely completed, with the Los Dos Caminos-Palo Verde section, inaugurated on November 19, 1989. On December 18, 1994, the Plaza Venezuela-El Valle section of Line 3 came into operation.

On July 18, 2006, Line 4, the Capuchinos-Zona Rental section, was inaugurated and on October 15 of that same year, the first phase of the second section of Line 3, El Valle-La Rinconada, began commercial operation. The second phase opened on January 9, 2010, including three new stations: Jardines, Coche and Mercado, within the Plaza Venezuela-La Rinconada section. In addition, the network that makes up the underground system is 66 kilometers long and 47 stations, which mobilize more than one million eight hundred thousand beneficiaries daily, and on October 3, 2012, the first stage of the Caracas Bus system was inaugurated, consisting of 5.2 kilometers and 11 stations, which run through the city from San José to Paseo Los Próceres, extending the service capacity of this important mass transport network for the benefit of all the inhabitants of Caracas.
