On March 29, 1973, the last American soldiers fled Vietnam after being defeated by the communist force of this Asian country.

The United States invaded Vietnam for 10 years, killing more than 2 million military and civilian personnel. This war was driven by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and by the then US President John F. Kennedi. The invasion was considered to be one of the most violent acts carried out by the North American country.

However, the Vietnamese's asymmetric war strategy beat the Americans.

In March 1973, President Richard Nixon had no choice but to accept the ceasefire and gradually withdraw his troops until the 29th of that month.
