Coming from his homeland, Sabaneta de Barinas, and after completing his high school in July, on August 8, 1971, the Supreme Commander of the Bolivarian Revolution, Hugo Chávez, joined the Venezuelan Military Academy; an enclosure that sentimentally marked his life, forming the true patriot soldier who transformed Venezuelan politics.
Chávez studied at the Academy not with the idea of being a soldier, but to be in Caracas and be able to become a professional baseball player, his great dream. Obviously things changed when he set foot in that courtyard, full of patriotic energy.
On one occasion, Commander Chávez recounted that an experiment, a transformation, was beginning that day in the courtyard and in these classrooms of the House of Blue Dreams.
“And by chance of life I fell here (Military Academy). My military vocation was not yet awake, but this is where you were born on the first day, this is where you began to settle down, to become a man, to become a patriot and Bolivarian soldier,” Hugo Chávez explained in 2011.
Since that August 8, 1971, the Military Academy of the Venezuelan Army became the epicenter of the military, political and social formation of a leader who, over the years, became president and implemented thousands of social projects, inspired by the heroes of the country and especially the Liberator Simon Bolivar.
He continued the glorious arms race, not only to achieve the honor they gave, but also to liberate his homeland and to deserve the blessings of a people that became great thanks to their work and their love for Venezuela.
