The start of the V Battle of Carabobo karate Cup was ready with the arrival of more than a thousand athletes from the country's 24 entities to the Ricardo Pérez Castro Dome of the University of Carabobo, where the competition will take place from today until Saturday under the endorsement of the Venezuelan Karate Do Federation (FVKD).
The program will bring together children, youth and adult competitors in the kata and kumite modalities on six tatami mats installed in the venue, while the delegations comply with accreditation, weighing and technical conference to give way to the actions starting at 9:00 in the morning during the four scheduled days.
The vice-president of the FVKD, José Mendoza, said that the fifth edition consolidates his position on the national calendar and noted that athletes from the national and state teams and clubs will participate together with coaches, referees and technical directors, which will allow for a high-level competitive championship.
The Cup will also mark the reopening of the Ricardo Pérez Castro Dome, a space recovered through the agreement between the University of Carabobo and the Karate Association of the Carabobo State (AKECAR), which will turn the venue into a reference center for the development of the discipline and operational headquarters of the regional organization.
Mendoza indicated that there are only logistical adjustments left to receive delegations and stressed that the event will open a new phase for Venezuelan karate, while local authorities expect wide public participation during the days.
The leader concluded that a continuous sporting environment is expected during the four days of competition with the presence of the country's leading exponents.
