Deputies of the National Assembly unanimously approved an agreement of solidarity with the victims of the double earthquake that occurred on June 24 and to support the actions taken by the State to address the humanitarian emergency.

In addition, in the above-mentioned text read in the plenary session this Tuesday by the deputy Grecia Colmenares, parliamentarians accompany the Executive's demand to international organizations for the release of Venezuelan assets held abroad so that they can be used for the acquisition of medical supplies, food, heavy machinery and construction materials.

In addition, there is also the need to promote new laws and reforms to the current legal framework to speed up the construction and allocation of housing for affected families.

Also, during the debate, the deputy of the Homeland Bloc Jehyson rejected the disinformation campaigns that emerged after the seismic double and questioned those who, he said, tried to “demonize aid” and obtain political gain from the tragedy. “If they come to help, let it be sincerely and not with hidden agendas,” he said, assuring that the Venezuelan people responded with solidarity in the face of the emergency.

For his part, the opposition deputy, Luis Augusto Romero, expressed his caucus's support for the agreement and highlighted the actions of the rescue forces, security officials and volunteers who responded to the emergency from the first few hours.

He also proposed carrying out technical studies on the causes of structural collapses, strengthening security in affected areas and evaluating tax relief measures for businesses in La Guaira, with the aim of facilitating their economic reactivation.
