The fisheries agreements signed between Venezuela and Suriname will serve to activate our economy and influence national economic growth, said the President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez.

During a meeting with the crew members of 35 Venezuelan boats that fish in the Port of Sail in Suriname, the president indicated that the signed agreements will serve to give a new impetus to binational fishing.

“It is extraordinary news that between 2,400 and 2,800 Venezuelan fishermen are participating in this historic agreement with Suriname, to give a new impetus to binational fishing, so that they translate into benefits and we can go together to export, to shared benefit,” said the president.

Rodríguez also ratified the Bolivarian Government's unrestricted support for fishermen fishing between the two countries. “May this agreement be alive, truly, concrete, that it translates into benefits for the fishing sector in the east of our country and has a greater vision for the future and deepening our binational cooperation,” he emphasized.
