AN approved partial reform to the Organic Law of the Supreme Court

The National Assembly (AN) unanimously approved this Tuesday, in the second discussion, the Organic Bill for the Partial Reform of the Organic Law of the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ), which modifies article 65 of the legal instrument, referring to the formation and structure of the Judicial Nominations Committee.

With the reform, the number of members of the Committee increased from 21 to 23, consisting of 11 deputies and 12 representatives of the sectors of Venezuelan civil society.

During the plenary debate, a Single Transitional Provision was also incorporated, which stipulates the beginning of the process for appointing and appointing magistrates of the Judiciary.

“Once this Law is published in the Official Gazette of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, the AN will appoint the Judicial Nominations Committee based on the provisions of article 65 of the Organic Law of the Supreme Court, in order to initiate the constitutional and legal process for the appointment and appointment of all the magistrates and magistrates of the Supreme Court, principal and alternate, as well as their corresponding auxiliary bodies,” highlights the Single Transitional Provision.

In addition, the First and Second final provisions of the current law were deleted, and the Third Final Provision was approved with modifications, which became the Single Final Provision with this partial reform. “This Law will enter into force as soon as it is published in the Official Gazette of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela,” the provision states.
