The president of the National Assembly (AN), deputy Jorge Rodríguez, this Saturday, August 22, reported that in use of his powers conferred on him by the Internal Regulations and Debates, he decided to remove opposition deputy Antonio Ecarri from the presidency of the Venezuela-United States Parliamentary Friendship Group .
In a statement published on his account on the social network Telegram, Rodríguez said that Ecarri's actions “have been irresponsible and have violated the legal system that we are obliged to defend.”
He specified that the aforementioned deputy violated Article 133 of the Internal and Debate Regulations, which require parliamentarians in functions of inter-parliamentary diplomacy to act in accordance with the National Constitution.
In this regard, Rodríguez stressed that the most serious thing is the violation of Article 318 of the Magna Carta, which establishes that “the monetary unit of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela is the bolivar.”
He also noted that “the board of directors has initiated an investigation process to establish the faults committed by the aforementioned deputy and will determine responsibilities and sanctions that apply in accordance with the provisions of our operating regulations.”
“I will not allow a friendship group to be used to clumsily and spuriously attempt to undermine the constitutional and legal bases of our Republic,” Rodríguez emphasized.
