Antonio Estévez: Master of the melodies that enhance the national tricolor

A passionate composer, dedicated orchestra director and passionate fighter for human causes, were the virtues of maestro Antonio Estévez, who was born on January 3, 1916, in the city of Calabozo, Guárico state, where he developed his obvious passion for music between milking and herding songs.
Founder of the University Orfeón of the Central University of Venezuela (UCV), from an early age, Estévez dedicated himself to the study of music, where he stood out for works such as the “Cantata Criolla”, a composition with a great nationalist meaning, which won the National Music Award in 1954.
This teacher was also a promoter of social justice, ideas that led him to become an active member of the Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV).
107 years after the birth of this famous Venezuelan, Maestro Estévez is still a reference for the dedication and love for this land that he had in him, an illustrious son.
