On July 26, 1953, a group of young revolutionaries ventured into the obscurity that prevailed in Cuba dominated by the pro-imperialist dictatorship of Fulgencio Bastista and with great courage they launched a ray of hopeful light for the people in the action that was called the Assault on the Moncada Barracks .

Despite their outpouring of courage and dignity, the assailants, inferior in number and weapons, were unable to seize the stronghold. After this failure, the dictator's order was to eliminate 10 revolutionaries for every soldier of the regime killed in combat, thus unleashing an unprecedented repression that resulted in the murder of almost all of the young fighters.

After being captured, the leader of this movement, the young lawyer Fidel Castro, knew how to turn this military defeat into a political triumph, when in the midst of a trial that was being followed by the People, he defended his revolutionary action and launched the prophetic phrase “history will absolve me”.

71 years after this quixotic action that opened the doors for the construction of a revolutionary movement that overthrew the dictatorship and established the first socialist revolution in our America, which is a beacon of dignity. Today the Peoples fly the flags of anti-imperialism to say to the world: Long live revolutionary Cuba! Long live the Moncada! Long live Fidel!
