204 years ago, Venezuela experienced the most important victory in the history of the Homeland: The Battle of Carabobo, the main war that consolidated the country's independence and represented the liberation of Venezuelan territory from Spanish rule. The heroic feat of June 24, 1821 became a symbol of the struggle of a people for its emancipation.
This crucial historical event for the independence of Venezuela was the product of the anti-imperialist vision of one of the most important figures in republican history, Simón Bolívar, thanks to his ideological reference for sovereignty, combined with his audacity, skill, intelligence and leadership that obtained the liberation of Caracas and the Venezuelan territory from the Spanish empire led by the army of Miguel de la Torre.
The battle took place near what is today the city of Valencia, specifically Libertador municipality of the state of Carabobo, where the Patriot Army, led by the great Simón Bolívar with the support of José Antonio Páez, representing Gran Colombia, and the realist Army, led by Miguel de la Torre, representing the Spanish Empire, faced each other.
The display of intelligence and courage of the independence fighters made this glorious victory take place in just 45 minutes, which today remains an example for the people who, 201 years after the Battle of Carabobo, are still fighting against the imperialist forces that seek to subjugate the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, which does not give up and who, with courage and determination, will continue to win.
Nowadays, you can admire and appreciate in that same space, in part of that large expanse of land and plain that served for the Battle of Carabobo, a haughty and majestic monolith that represents that great victory of the Venezuelan people, of those men who gave their lives for national honor and above all for being freed from that colony that came to usurp power and functions.
The people are filled with joy when they celebrate the undefeated in Carabobo, that feeling where they fought relentlessly to live in a free land.
