Battle of El Juncal: A resounding victory for the Patriots

On September 27, 1816, the Battle of El Juncal, representing an important historic moment for the emancipation of Venezuela, led by General Manuel Piar, who had assumed command of the troops that were able to remain in the country following the defeat of Ocumare.
Together with the Scottish General Gregorio McGregor, Piar is fighting the Battle of El Juncal, where the realist leader Francisco Tomás Morales is overthrown. Thus, after two years of absence, the patriots managed to regain control of the northern area of the current state of Anzoátegui, whose region they lost again with the capture of the Casa Fuerte in Barcelona on April 7, 1817.
After this important action, the patriots invite Simon Bolivar, through Francisco Antonio Zea, to return to the country from his asylum in the Antilles.
