Bolivarian Government activated infrastructure monitoring and review after 3.6 earthquake in Mérida

The governor of the state of Mérida, Arnaldo Sánchez, reported that security and prevention agencies maintain permanent monitoring after the magnitude 3.6 earthquake, located in the northwest of the state.

In this regard, he indicated that the risk management system immediately activated its protocols to evaluate possible impacts and ensure the protection of the population.

“From the headquarters of Civil Protection, our central command post is doing all the review of what this seismic movement was today here in the state of Mérida. As soon as this earthquake occurred, we immediately activated all the Civil Protection equipment and our firefighters. I should also highlight the participation of our Peace Quadrant and the Commands, reviewing the entire situation in the state,” he said.

The governor pointed out that, so far, there have been no major damage or loss of human life, although the entire technical and scientific team is still active to deepen the analysis of the earthquake.

Sánchez recognized the organized reaction of the population to the event. “Our people immediately adopted the measures that have been promoted and reported: leaving buildings, shopping centers and tall towers to take the necessary measures and take care of life, which is the most important thing.”

He indicated that the deployment continues throughout the entity to ensure attention and reiterated that the actions are being carried out in coordination with the president in charge Delcy Rodríguez and the national risk management system.
