Bolivarian Government activated special care plan for affected drivers on the highway

The Head of Government of Caracas, Nahum Fernández, reported that recent rainfall concentrated the volume of water equivalent to two months in 45 minutes, causing the Guaire River to overflow at the height of the San Pedro parish, affecting dozens of vehicles on the highway.

During a review of the emergencies treated in the capital after the passage of Tropical Wave No. 40, he reported that following the instructions of the president in charge Delcy Rodríguez, a special care plan was activated for affected families and drivers.

“We are talking about the fact that approximately 60 to 70 vehicles were affected, most of which were heavily damaged, President Delcy Rodríguez contacted the owners,” she said.

He also reported that there are approximately 20 victims, who were treated and taken in ambulances to medical centers.

He indicated that the bridge that crosses Santa Mónica and San Pedro had never overflowed the Guaire River, but due to the load that had come from El Valle, it caused it to overflow in its entirety, affecting the highway.

“Right now we're keeping the entire highway locked down due to cement and the amount of debris and vehicles that were affected,” said Tizó.
